Polishing Pad Tips

The proper tool needs too be used when polishing. Most angle grinders operate at to high a speed for proper polishing. High RPM's will burn and stain the surface of the pad, or even cause the pads to fly right off the backer, potentially causing injury. Burning the pads due to high RPM's can cause the pads to wear out quickly and even stain the stone being polished. Wet pads can be used at speeds of up to 4,500 rpm. Dry pads should not be used at over 3,000 rpm.
